3D Digital Twins for Cruise Ships

Bringing cabins and decks to life through virtual experiences

Our exclusive 3D virtual tours will boost your bookings

Cruise bookings are rarely made on a whim. Travelers spend weeks comparing ships, cabin types, and amenities—and ultimately choose the option that inspires the most confidence. A 3D digital twin of a cruise ship delivers exactly that confidence: It shows cabins in their actual size, explains the deck plan intuitively, and gives travelers the feeling that they already know the ship before they board.

LIQUID AMBIENT is the only German agency with proven project experience aboard multiple classes of cruise ships. Our teams have documented, among others, AIDA Cruises ships of the Hyperion class and the Sphinx II class, as well as the AIDAcosma and Mein Schiff Relax from TUI Cruises. We understand the logistical challenges: limited scanning windows in dry dock or during ongoing operations with arrival and departure days, metal structures that interfere with the camera signal, and the need to capture hundreds of cabins efficiently and consistently.

Our proprietary CGI-to-Matterport technology also enables the visualization of ship sections not yet built based on architectural data—a valuable option for pre-marketing new fleets months before their maiden voyage.

LIQUID AMBIENT is certified Matterport Service Partner!

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

The scanning team typically works in the dry dock, during scheduled port calls, or throughout an entire cruise while the ship is in operation. We coordinate the project directly with the shipping company’s technical management, work within available time slots, and ensure consistently high quality. Experience has shown that an entire ship can be digitized in a relatively short period of time.

Yes. You can create separate virtual tours for each cabin type, which are linked directly from the booking process. This way, when comparing cabins, a prospective guest can view the exact virtual tour for the category they wish to book.

CGI to Matterport converts architectural 3D renderings or CAD models into the Matterport Viewer format. It is ideal for new ship classes still under construction and enables pre-sales campaigns, travel agency training, and trade show presentations well in advance of the ships’ commissioning.

Yes. Using an API interface, the tours can be integrated into your own booking systems, CRM solutions, and travel agency intranets. LIQUID AMBIENT provides support for the technical integration and coordinates with your IT team as needed.

We recommend updating the design following major refits or renovations of specific deck areas. Standard cabins and common areas remain up-to-date for several years if their furnishings remain unchanged.
